Eastern foods assigment Essay

Background: As the building work is going to be complete in July 1st and therefore there is a plan to start the business early in May 1st. To develop the business the Eastern Foods is facing the following challenges with regards to HRM, Accounting, Marketing and Operations Management. (a) Overview of Challenges Facing Eastern foods: Human resource Management (HRM) Human resource management is also identified as â€Å"personnel management†. There will be in detail study required of whole business for the recruitment of the new staff. There should be study of hierarchy of the management level that will be necessary to manage the operations of business. And what skills will be obligatory for conducting the operations of business. The workers that will be recruited must have the knowledge and experience relevant to the operations of East Foods Company’s business. Such as in production there must be those people who have best knowledge of production. The diversity on workplace will have to be considered like the marital status, sexual orientations, ethnicity etc. These all criteria must be set in consideration of requirement of work for example if work required at plant needs the male man power then the women cannot be recruited there. Similarly there will be requirement of special team for marketing of the new project from the marketing backgrounds like peoples who have studied in Business Marketing and have good previous experience in marketing. The human resource should be managed in following way Digram1 (Process of Human Resource Management) Finance: Finance is the most important part of any kind of business. Through accounting the transactions are recorded and summarized and the results are generated also the figures of profits are determined. For the complex and frequent transactions the accounting software and staff who know how to operate that software are required as will. The team should study that  weather the software are required for accounting for Eastern Foods business and if it is required then which software will be suitable and whether it should be bespoke software. Then the cost of purchasing and its annual subscription will be an issue. Marketing Marketing is also essential for the success Eastern foods. In marketing the need of the consumer are known and then make research on that specific need to produce it and after production that product is advertised for sale also Eastern Foods must develop the marketing mix (4 p’s): price, product, place and promotion. Therefore the project team has to pay special attention on marketing, there should be staff for the research to invent new products and produce it to meet the customer need and take the competitive advantage if you are the first one to invent that product. Then there should be selling team who must advertise it in market to make sale. (Diagram2) (Marketing Mix 4P’s of Target Market) Operations Management Operations management is section of business management which is concerned with supervision operations for example asset management , cost management ,designing, and calculating the process of production and redesigning business operations in the production of goods or services. It involves the responsibility of ensuring that business operations are efficient in terms of using as few resources as needed, and effective in terms of meeting customer supplies. It is concerned with managing the process that converts inputs (in the forms of raw materials, labor, and energy) into outputs (in the form of goods and services). For the success of Eastern Foods it is very necessary to run the operations in sequences and in smooth manner therefore project team has to focus on the planning of management of operation and designing of operation for new business is great task. For example after estimating the future sale the project team has to focus on required production. How the things will be produced, preserve and sold everything needs planning. Different models must be designed for operation management and the best one which is most efficient and cost-effective must be chosen. The HRM and operation management are the key issue and should be addressed in effective way to run the business in smooth manner. (b) Two key issues key issues and how they can be addressed: Operational Management To address the issue of operational management the management team which is responsible for the business activities that is going to be start on May 1st must be response in following manner (Diagram 3) Service management functions 1. Optimizing Before start of the business the following level of management must be optimized. I. Service level management There is monitoring and management of the quality of services and entity’s key performance in Service-level management. The key performance indicators range from coarse-grained availability and usage statistics to fine-grained entity-contained per-interaction indicators. There is comparison of actual performance with pre-defined expectations and determine suitable actions and producing meaningful reports in Service level management. II. Financial management In financial management there is effective and efficient management of money which accomplish the goals of organization. It is the specialized functions directly associated with the top management. The significance of this function is not only seen in the ‘Line’ but also in the capacity of ‘Staff’ in overall administration of a company. The financial management is defined differently in different fields. III. Capacity management Capacity management is a procedure used to manage information technology (IT). Its primary objective is to ensure that IT capacity meets current and future business needs in a cost-effective way. One common analysis of  capacity management is described in the ITIL framework. ITIL version 3 views capacity management as comprising three sub-processes: business capacity management, service capacity management, and component capacity management (known as resource capacity management in ITIL version 2). As the usage of IT services change and functionality evolves, the amount of processing power, memory etc. also changes. If it is possible to understand the demands being made currently, and how they will change over time, this approach proposes that planning for IT service growth becomes easier and less reactive. If there are spikes in, for example, processing power at a particular time of the day, it proposes analyzing what is happening at that time and make changes to maximize the existing infrastructure, for example, tune the application, or move a batch cycle to a quieter period. IV. Availability management Availability Management aims to define, analyze, plan, measure and improve all aspects of the availability of services. Availability Management is responsible for ensuring that all infrastructure, processes, tools, roles etc are appropriate for the agreed availability targets. V. IT service consulting management The practice of helping organizations to improve their performance, operates primarily through the analysis of existing organizational problems and the development of plans for improvement. Organizations may draw upon the services of management consultants for a number of reasons, including gaining external (and presumably objective) advice and access to the consultants’ specialized expertise. VI. Work force management Encompasses all the activities needed to maintain a productive workforce. Under the umbrella of human resource management, WFM is sometimes referred to as HRMS systems, or even part of ERP systems. Recently, the concept of workforce management has begun to evolve into optimization. One main player in WFM Optimization and WFM BPO is Workforce Insight (WFI). VII. Infrastructure engineering Infrastructure is basic physical and organizational structures needed for the operation of a society or enterprise or reproductive system ,[1] or the services and facilities necessary for an economy to function.[2] It can be generally defined as the set of interconnected structural elements that provide framework supporting an entire structure of development. It is an important term for judging a country or region’s development. VIII. Security management Security management is the identification of an organization’s assets (including information assets), followed by the development, documentation, and implementation of policies and procedures for protecting these assets. After the step of optimizing there is step of changing of management according to business need. 2. Changing The changing process are consists of three steps. I. Change management The management is changed as per current requirement of business activities it may be shuffle in different departments or may be fired and recruited new one. II. Configure Management After deployment of new management the staff is configured in right way to do effective work to generate the results which is goal congruence. III. Release management After training of management it is released to do work. 3. Operating I. System administration When the management is trained and deployed and functions have been started then there is need of administration on all system of business like procurement, production, storage and sales. II. Security Administration The operations of security must be administered by admin department because for safeguarding of assets the security is very important. With the help of effective security the accidents can be avoided. III. Service monitoring and control To maintain the quality there must be effective control on all services like the procedures of procurement and production must be monitor to maintain the quality. IV. Directory monitoring administration Directory monitoring administration play important role in smoothness of operations. V. Network Administration For the fast communication there is highly need of suitable network. Therefore the networks like internet, mobiles and telephone exchange must be properly hold by company. VI. Storage management The stock must be preserved in effective way to avoid the loss and to maintain the quality of products. VII. Job Scheduling The staff must be available every time to continue the operations therefore the roster must be maintained and monitor. 4. Supporting I. Service Desk A Service Desk is a primary IT service for in IT service management (ITSM) as defined by the Information Technology Infrastructure Library (ITIL). It is intended to provide a Single Point of Contact (â€Å"SPOC†) to meet the communication needs of both Users and IT employees. II. Incident Management Incident management is a term describing the activities of an organization to identify, analyze, and correct hazards to prevent a future re-occurrence. These incidents within a structured organization are normally dealt with by either an Incident Response Team (IRT), or an Incident Management Team (IMT). These are often designated before hand, or during the event and are placed in control of the organization whilst the incident is dealt with, to restore normal functions. III. Problem Management Problem management is the process responsible for managing the lifecycle of all problems. The primary objectives of problem management are to prevent problems and resulting incidents from happening, to eliminate recurring incidents, and to minimize the impact of incidents that cannot be prevented. The Information Technology Infrastructure Library defines a problem as the cause of one or more incidents. HUMAN RESOURCE MANGEMENT: Human resource management (HRM) is the management process of an organization’s workforce, or human resources also the main foundation in management activity of any Business is the HRM. It is responsible for the attraction, selection, training, assessment, and rewarding of employees, while also overseeing organizational leadership and culture and ensuring compliance with employment and labor laws. In circumstances where the employees’ desire and they are legally authorized to hold a collective bargaining agreement, HR will also serve as the company’s primary link with the employees’ representatives. HR is a product of the human relations movement of the early 20th century, when researchers began documenting ways of creating business value through the strategic management of the workforce. The function was initially dominated by transactional work, such as payroll and benefits administration, but due to globalization, company consolidation, technological adv ancement, and further research, HR now focuses on strategic initiatives like mergers and acquisitions, talent management, succession planning, industrial and labor relations, and diversity and inclusion. In startup companies, HR’s duties may be performed by trained professionals. In larger companies, an entire functional group is typically dedicated to the discipline, with staff specializing in various HR tasks and functional leadership engaging in strategic decision making across the business. To train practitioners for the profession, institutions of higher education, professional associations, and companies themselves have created programs of study dedicated explicitly to the duties of the function. Academic and practitioner organizations likewise seek to engage and further the field of HR, as evidenced by several field-specific publications. HR is also a field of research study that is popular within the fields of management and industrial/organizational psychology, with research articles appearing in a number of academic journals, including those mentioned later in this article. In the current global work environment, all global companies are focused on retaining the talent and knowledge held by the workforce. All companies are focused on lowering the employee turnover and preserving knowledge. New hiring not only entails a high cost but also increases the risk of the newcomer not being able to replace the person who was working in that position before. HR departments  also strive to offer benefits that will appeal to workers, thus reducing the risk of losing knowledge. 1. Recruitment Management The recruitment is most important step in human resource management. It must be consider that the staff recruited by the management should be suitable to run the operation of business. For this purpose different techniques of recruitment can be obtained like written test, aptitude test and interviews. And different task base test this step must be done to identify the candidates and to have the decision which candidate to accept it. 2. Employee Management Once the employees are recruited they should be trained and then deployed in their relevant roles and their performance should be evaluated. 3. Shift Management The roster of employees must be scheduled and their shift should be managed in a manner that there should not be any discontinuity in operation of business. 4. Attendance Management The attendance register of employees must be regularly maintained and monitored by authoritative person. 5. Leave Management The annual leave days allowed must be decided and employees should be given holidays according leave rules. 6. Payroll Management The remuneration or salary must be decided according to the ranks and work of employees. And remuneration must be performance oriented to motivate the employees. Conclusion: Plan for Organization In conclusion to run the organization successfully we need to set up all the four key functions Accounts, HRM, Operation Management also marketing on similar basis. There should be finance for running the operations therefore we have to arrange the investors. Then we have to implement the designed operations like procurement (must be different department) and the production unit must be installed and relevant recruited staff will be deployed in unit. Likewise the warehouse to store the products and there should be selling and delivering man force to make sales. And the skilled  man force is needed for marketing to enhance the sale. And there will be accounting software and professional staff to record the transaction and generating results. The managing of operations will be required on ongoing basis in other words the operation must be monitors and results must be match with targeted performance. An Examination of “Intimate Revenge” in Seamus Heaney’s “Punishment”

An Examination of â€Å"Intimate Revenge† in Seamus Heaney’s â€Å"Punishment† The poem â€Å"Punishment† by Seamus Heaney was written in 1975 as a part of the anthology North. It is a part of Heaney’s bog series, in which he describes the Irish bogland, and the different artifacts and remains that have been found within the Northern European bogs. In these poems, the bog imagery is metaphoric of Heaney’s Irish homeland, specifically Northern Ireland. Written during the bloodiest year of the Irish Troubles, â€Å"Punishment† delves deeper into this metaphor to examine relations during the time period. In â€Å"Punishment,† the poetic persona observes the body of a bog woman, the Windeby Girl. She has a noose around her neck, and as he looks at her corpse he imagines the context in which she was hanged. Throughout this first section of the poem, Heaney creates a very empathetic tone through the persona’s description of the woman and the circumstances surrounding her death. Toward the end of the poem, the persona admits t hat some part of him does not regret her execution, and almost condones it. In â€Å"Punishment,† Heaney uses contrasting images of the bog woman and metaphor of the Irish Troubles to create tension and explore the internal conflict between empathy and revenge. Heaney begins to develop an empathetic tone from the very first beginning of â€Å"Punishment.† The first three lines read: â€Å"I can feel the tug / of the halter at the nape / of her neck.† Immediately, the word tug pulls the reader into the persona’s experience. Heaney’s wonderful use of enjambment in this first stanza also leads to the creation of rousing interest. These features work together to draw the reader into the story of the bog woman simply from the initial image of her. Heaney continues to establish empathy through the persona’s continued imagery. The persona uses very vivid visual analogies to draw attention to the young age and unfortunate situation of the bog girl. In lines 7-8, the wind â€Å"shakes the frail rigging / of her ribs.† The word frail highlights her weakness and vulnerability. The persona can see her ribs. She is completely exposed. In this, Heaney establishes physical infirmity. Until the fourth stanza, the reader has no perception of age. In line 14, the persona calls her a â€Å"barked sapling.† A sapling is a young, weak tree. Barking is a practice in which a row of bark is stripped from a tree, inevitably killing it. Combined, these two simple terms create an incredibly evocative image of nature slaughtered by man. They suggest to the reader that this girl’s death is an act against nature and is inherently wrong. The persona continues to describe her in this manner, until line 20. Perhaps one of the most puzzling lines in â€Å"Punishment,† it refers to the noose around her neck. The persona compares it to â€Å"a ring / to store / the memories of love† (20-22). A noose generally brings about a negative connotation. However in this context, it is presented with a somewhat ironic and nostalgic tone. At its most basic purpose, the metaphor is alluding to the revelation in the next line. Yet, at a deeper level, the line could represent the persona’s understanding and justification of the bog girl’s crime. This appreciation is further exemplified by the persona’s personal connection to the girl. Heaney’s use of apostrophe creates an especially strong sense of empathy in â€Å"Punishment.† The persona directly addresses the exhibited woman as a â€Å"little adulteress† (23). Once again, the persona draws attention literally to her youth and paltry size through the use of little. However, this is also a term of endearment, as one would call his or her own child, further codifying the connection the persona feels with the bog woman. In this line, the reader is informed for the first time of the reason for the girl’s death. She committed a crime and she suffered the punishment. In the subsequent lines, the images transition from frailty in death to beauty in life. The persona describes her â€Å"tar-black face† as once being â€Å"beautiful† (27). This stark contrast highlights the tension of her life and death and demonstrates the empathy the persona feels for the girl. The final definitive sympathy the reader observes is in line 28, as the persona addresses the girl as â€Å"my poor scapegoat.† The possessive adjective my demonstrates the empathy the persona experiences, and the line as a whole shows a great display of sympathy. The implication of the word scapegoat is that she was punished so that others would not be. She is an example, even though the persona recognizes the unfairness of her situation. In the next stanzas, the persona begins to reveal his personal cowardice and sin. The most poignantly ashamed lines come directly after vehemently expressed empathy. The persona directly addresses the bog girl for the final time: â€Å"I almost love you / but would have cast, I know, / the stones of silence† (29-31). The images that have been developing empathy and endearment from the first line suddenly dissolve as the persona’s sympathy is proven insufficient. Despite his convictions, he does not feel strongly enough to speak out against his peers and save her. If he does, he cannot bring himself to do so for the simplest reason. Some part of him understands why she is killed, and agrees with the punishment. In the poem, the persona compares the punishment of the bog girl to the punishment of Catholic girls during the Irish Troubles. During this time, cruel punishments for seemingly minor offenses were not uncommon. The Troubles were a conflict between Irish Catholics and British Protestants. In this poem, Heaney specifically references the penalty for fraternization between these two groups. If a Catholic girl was discovered associating with a British soldier, she was â€Å"cauled in tar,† and shamed publicly (39). This is comparative to a hanging for adultery as public degradation. She is made an example, just as the bog girl is made an example. The metaphor extends not only to the literal â€Å"punishment,† but also to the emotional conflict the persona experiences. He is the â€Å"artful voyeur† of a murdered girl (32). This demonstrates a sense of guilt as he witnesses the atrocity in front of him, yet he only watches. Equally, he has â€Å"stood dumb† as he has watched his own people being punished by his own people (37). He â€Å"would connive in civilized outrage,† yet do nothing to stop the act. It is through these contradictions that the persona’s internal conflict is revealed. The persona can â€Å"understand the exact / and tribal, intimate revenge,† yet also feel boundless empathy for those punished (43-44). It is through this conflict that Heaney looks at relations during the Irish Troubles. As a prominent figure in the Catholic minority, Seamus Heaney was often called upon to make political statements in his poetry. â€Å"Punishment† exemplifies betrayal, not between the two sides, but within one. It is not degrading the Protestants, nor is it a rallying cry for the Catholics. Instead, Heaney examines revenge, empathy, and betrayal at their core. Throughout the majority of the poem, the images of the bog woman create a great feeling of empathy. Yet, it is also understood that the persona would have done nothing to save her. In the intense emotion of innermost betrayal, moral convictions may be set aside for the satisfaction of revenge. â€Å"Punishment† examines the ethical dilemma faced both by Catholics during the Troubles and by any person in a situ ation of war, either personal or intercontinental. The resolution Heaney reaches is uncomfortable. The persona stands in silence and accepts the violence, despite empathy for the victim. The readers discomfort comes in the understanding of why he does so. It is the question of love over hate, of peace over war, one each person must answer individually. Though Heaney rarely added fuel to the political fire of the Irish Troubles, perhaps through this poem he is asking whether this struggle is worth the pain it created.

The funds that are put away from this process will go to build infrastructure and increase jobs for the young who will continue to work toward funding the process. This seems to be a very effective and quite efficient way of doing this. However, it works very much like the social security system in the United States (sociealsecurity.gov) which over the years has become a disaster and that may warn that this needs to be watched closely. In the U.S. social security monies were paid in for retirement and used for other things and now with a large retirement about to happen, there is no money. There is also going to be a smaller group of people to fund it over the next few years so there is every possibility that the system will collapse and many will be left without any retirement. Webster sees the impending violence and warns against flirting with the possibility when he states, "There can be no such thing as a peaceable secession. Peaceable secession is an utter impossibility". Calhoun, while in agreement, took a more pragmatic approach and said, "It is only through a long process, and successively, that the cords can be snapped until the whole fabric falls asunder." Calhoun, from the South, was guarding against further agitation of the North and also guarding against alienating his Southern constituency. Calhoun's speech is highlighted by what he sees as the unfair treatment of the South by the North. With slavery prohibited in the unorganized territories and the provisions of popular sovereignty, he decries the dwindling political representation that the South has in Washington. He further puts forth the notion that the South generates a preponderance of the revenue that goes into the pockets of Northern industrialists. His speech is centered around the theme that the South must be satisfied in order to remain a useful section of the Union, and it was the responsibility of the North to rectify past wrongs and promote a more equitable system. Webster, on the other hand, does not recognize the imbalance in justice between the North and the South. Webster believes that the tensions arise from the North's unwillingness to accept the slavery in the South. He dismisses Calhoun's insistence that the South is being mistreated by saying, "These are disputed topics, and I have no inclination to enter into them". Webster saw slavery, and the South's ownership of the issue, as the central issue. But beyond the simple notion of slavery, both men agreed that the tensions were being promoted by abolitionists geared toward arousing anti-slavery feelings in the south. Webster was politically bound to show some public support for the Whig slave owners that he was courting for national support, while Calhoun needed anti-abolitionist support at home. Though the main issue of the Compromise of 1850 was the problem of the Texas territory and it's claim on New Mexico, neither man chose to highlight it in their speech. Another critical issue, the Fugitive Slave Act, was detailed by Webster but Calhoun chose to ignore the issue. Webster blamed the North for a lack of will in enforcing the laws that they were sworn to uphold. Tension Built Essay Arthur Miller was an American playwright who was born in 1915. Miller wrote The Crucible in 1953 during the McCarthy period when Americans were accusing each other of Pro-Communist beliefs. His purpose through writing The Crucible was to express his own views on McCarthyism, and he does this through the main plot, the 17th century Salemwitch hunt, which has a stark similarity to the trials during the McCarthy period. The citizens of Salem were against each other in every way, and one accusation would lead to the arrest and murder of another person, unless they told of other names. At the end of the play, the two most honest and noble people are killed, Rebecca Nurse and John Proctor. This is an exact replica of what was happening in America during the 1950s and this play is an attack upon the McCarthy period of America. The setting of Act 3 can be understood as an attack on the harshness of the authorities in Salem and 1950s America. Act 3 starts with the stage directions and these go on for a few sentences, each one being quite specific about the situation. The language used is negative and disheartening, creating an unwanted feeling throughout the audience, almost as if they are not meant to be there; even forbidding. We are told that sunlight (is) pouring through two high windows in the back wall but is being swallowed by the darkness beneath. In the play, these stage directions can be understood as the two windows being Giles and John Proctor, who tell the truth, but Danforth, the darkness beneath, is hiding the truth. This is also an attack on McCarthy and the 1950s American society, the two windows representing the innocent people of America, who refused to name names, and the darkness, Senator Joseph McCarthy and his communist supporters, the people who refused to put up with citizens who went against his views. Also, the light is shown to be outside, and the darkness inside, which represents the ignorance of the American people, as the truth is shown to be distant, and the lies near. The opening lines of Act 3 are said by Hathorne and Martha Corey. Hathorne is questioning whether Corey is a witch, a claim that she denies. Throughout their argument, there are regular interruptions, predominantly by Giles, the village idiot. This attacks McCarthy and his laws, as Miller is showing the village idiot clever enough to know that the allegations are false, and yet Danforth is unable to realise this. Because of the fact that Giles is threatening Danforths position, he is ordered to be taken away, Remove that man. This shows Danforth, and McCarthy, to be weak, as their only power is the fear they put into peoples hearts, not their education or their understanding of the case. Danforth is repeatedly shown to be weak throughout this act, as well as in the play on a whole, degrading him and McCarthy. The language Danforth uses towards the characters is very humiliating, Your old age alone keeps you out of jail. He does not want to be argued with, and sticks by his rules no matter what. By doing this, Miller is showing McCarthy to be weak, as people who stick by their rules often have nothing else to say, and control people by their only source of power-authority. This suggests that the citizens of Salem and in America during the 1950s were very naà ¯Ã‚ ¿Ã‚ ½ve, and would follow whatever they were told to do, but the ones who stood up for themselves, lost everything-including their lives. This shows any individual would die, but if groups of people were to stick together and lie, then, and only then, would they able to live. This puts fear into people, and they feel as if they have to lie in order to live, There are wheels within wheels in this village, and fires within fires. Proctor, the tragic hero of the play, dies at the end, saving the life of his wife and his unborn child. This shows what an unselfish and noble character he is, but is lead to death because of the injustice of the court. Miller is attacking the McCarthy courts by killing the two most noble characters at the end, and the ultimate evil, Abigail, is shown to live till the end of the play and further. In the movie, we are shown the scene where John Proctor is privately taking to Elizabeth, about what he should do. This scene is probably the most moving scene in the movie, and we are made to feel sorry for the situation he is put in. As well as sympathising with proctor, we are also angered, as to why he should die. By showing this scene, and perhaps lengthening it-it was about 4-5 minutes in the movie-Miller is expressing his anger towards McCarthy and his laws.

The episodes of mood swings tend to become closer together with age. When a person is in the grip of this disease, chaos can occur. Bipolar disorder can cause major disruption of family and finances, loss of job, and marital problems. In Jims case he becomes completely dependant of his parents. Because of the extreme and risky behaviour that goes with bipolar disorder, it is very important that the disorder be identified. With proper and early diagnosis, this mental condition can be treated. Bipolar disorder is a long-term illness that will require proper management for the duration of a persons life. Jim is in his mid fifths and he still live with his parents, whose are in their late seventies. He is the only child and his parents overprotect him over the years owing to that he became completely de-skilled, dis-empowered and total dependant. He is not able to negotiate and he was not included in family discussions to show his opinion. The only way that he has to show that he is not happy is by screaming and crying. Jim definitely also suffers from Eternal child syndrome, also know as Peter Pan syndrome, and is to blame his parents who been treated him like a child all his life. Psychologists warn that overprotective parents can be responsible for this disorder as this prevents them from developing necessary skills to confront life. Jim chronologically grows older but in truth he has not grown up. Like Peter Pan he breaks societal norms to serve their own purposes and do not care much for the feelings and rights of his parents. He wants all the power but is not willing to share the responsibilities, not ready to sacrifice and reject moral structures which are part of mature adulthood. As the World Health Organization has not yet recognized Peter Pan Syndrome as a psychological disorder, the syndrome is not currently considered a psychopathology. Psychologists make a clear distinction between Peter Pan Syndrome and other, more serious, mental conditions involving adults who behave as children both emotionally and mentally. This is because it is often found that people suffering from Peter Pan Syndrome are mentally fully developed adults who often carry professional activities requiring strong intellectual skills. This syndrome is often associated with narcissism, although not in a negative way, self-centered sense. They are attracted to introspection in an attempt to find that imaginative comfort inside their own minds. On a positive sense this characteristic is seen as being in touch with the unbridled imaginational freedom of childhood. While succumbing to the prescribed order of things, most people forget all that they knew as an idealistic child, the eternal child is able to draw from their own raw, creative energy to remind us of how colorful life really is. Men with Peter Pan Syndrome find it difficult to make genuine friends and as a result feel desperately alone. They dont feel sorry for inappropriate actions but blame others for their shortcoming. Males diagnosed with having this syndrome were found to exhibit the following psychological traits: Either exaggerated or paralyzed emotions Anger taking extreme form of rage Joy turning into hysteria Disappointment grows and develops into depression or self-pity As a result males diagnosed with this syndrome find it difficult to express love, refuse to share feelings, feel guilty and have difficulty relaxing and find difficult to make genuine friends and as a result feel desperately alone. This has a huge impact in Jims parents who are finding difficult to cope with all this matters, especially in during the winter. They are gradually worried about their ability to cope and what will happen with Jim when they die. They might feel a host of emotions: distress, vulnerability, anger, guilt and, surely they probably are exhausted. As an informal carer for several years, Jims parents revolved all their life on him, they devoted all their live to him. Like Jim who does not has friends (apart form his parents friends), some people that experienced the same condition as him generally have a very limited social network as well, and normally the people that they interact are mainly informal careers. 4 First of all Jims parents have take him to GP and if he is diagnosed with bipolar disorder, the GP will refer him to a psychiatrist (a medically qualified mental health specialist), psychotherapist and /or CPN. At his appointment he will be given an assessment. The psychiatrist will ask him a number of questions to determine whether or not he has bipolar disorder and, if he has, what treatments will be most suitable for you. He will be asked about his symptoms and when he first experienced them. The psychiatrist will also ask him, about how he, usually feel leading up to, and during, an episode of mania, or depression, and whether he has had thoughts about harming yourself or others. The psychiatrist will also want to find out about his medical background and his family history in order to determine whether any of your relatives has had bipolar disorder. If someone else in his family had the condition, the psychiatrist may wish to talk to them. After the assessment the psychiatrist will prescribe the right drugs and refer him to a psychotherapist. Psychotherapists work with individuals, couples, families and groups to help them overcome a range of psychological and emotional issues. With the client as an active participant, psychotherapists use personal treatment plans and a variety of non-medical-based treatments to: address the clients thought processes, feelings and behaviour; understand inner conflicts; find new ways to deal with, and alleviate, distress They take a variety of approaches according to the theoretical models they adopt and the therapy they practice. These talking therapies include: cognitive behavioural therapies; psychoanalytic and psychodynamic therapies; humanistic and integrative psychotherapies; systemic therapies; hypno-psychotherapy; experiential constructivist therapies. Community Psychiatric nurses (CPNs) would be helpful to Jim as they can visit him in his new house and provide him support through the difficult periods of his illness, they also will see him when is well to check that everything is okay and be the first point of contact if he becomes unwell again. The CPN will help Jim with his medication and make sure that he understands what he should be taking and when. They also help patients family (in this case Jims parents) and careers understand and cope with the illness. Jim and his parents would benefit of Occupational therapists (OTs) as well. An occupational therapist can have many different roles. They will help Jim and his parents (when he moves out of his parents house) to adapt to the new environment and to cope with their daily life .OTs may work in hospitals or in the community. They supervise and assess a persons ability to look after themselves, e.g. self-care, cooking and housework, I would like point out that Jim does not know how to cook, clean or do his laundry. . OTs work with both individuals and groups. They can set goals for individuals with depression to encourage them to achieve more than they have been able to do while ill. They might get patients involved in specific job-related training schemes to improve their decision making and planning about the future. Group work is often aimed at increasing peoples social interactions. OTs may use many different types of therapy on an individual or group basis, including cognitive behavi oural therapy and art and music therapy.
